• Who: 6th through 8th graders will learn with Rabbanit Goldie; 3rd - 5th graders will learn with Rabbi Wolkenfeld.
• What: We'll be learning the second chapter of Mishna Bava Metzia, (Perek Elu Metziot). The chapter deals with hashavat aveida, the mitzvah of returning lost objects and our obligations and responsibilities to care for each other's property. We'll learn content alongside skills-work, and incorporate activities, skits, debates, art projects, and Kahoots to make learning fun and bring the material to life.
• When: Thursdays, 4:30 - 5:30 PM, November 11, 2021 - May 26, 2022 (22 Sessions total). When mincha gets earlier, students will join mincha at shul. Click here to view the calendar of Mishnah Club meetings.
• Structure: Pizza at 4:30 PM, learning from 4:45 - 5:30 PM. We'll eat pizza in the Beit Midrash, with ventilation. For the rest of the program, we'll ask that all students and teachers be masked as per current policy.
• Goals: This is a very practical topic, so the hope is our learning will lead to application of this mitzvah in the real world! In addition, students will learn about the development of the Oral Torah and the relationship between the Written Torah and Oral Torah; students will become familiar with elements of a mishnah; students will be able to recognize key terms and understand their function in the structure of a mishnah; students will learn basic concepts relating to the laws of returning lost objects; and students will practice learning b'chevrutah (paired Torah study).

The Mishnah Club program is free and open to all ASBI kids who are interested in joining. We invite parents to sponsor cost of pizza dinner and drinks for the program ($200/per child for all 22 sessions). Please contact Rabbanit Goldie (rabbanit@asbi.org) if you have any questions.
