Join ASBI Intern Sofia Freudenstein for a Parsha Shiur on Zoom. The class meets weekly on Wednesday nights.

Although the Talmud and the Oral Torah is a means to understand the Written Torah, it is usually studied on its own. But what if we used the Oral Torah to better understand the weekly Torah portion? Each week we will analyze a Talmudic passage that uses a relevant verse from the parsha, then we will study the verse in the original parsha context, and then circle back to thinking about what its use in the Gemara might be telling.

By studying these traditional texts in a somewhat untraditional way, we will have a whole new understanding of the many layers of rabbinic thought and analysis when it comes to understanding what the Torah meant to our rabbinic ancestors and hopefully what both Oral and Written Torah can mean for us, today.
