Do you ever hear a Jewish text quoted and not know what it is? Join Rabbanit Dr. Devorah Schoenfeld for this class which will introduce the most foundational texts of Judaism and how to read them. You will come out of this class able to follow and even lead conversations on a range of Torah topics. Our basic textbook will be “Back to the Sources” and we will look at texts from Chumash, Midrash, Mishna, Talmud, biblical commentaries and Halakhic Codes. This class is geared toward people without day school or yeshiva background and no Hebrew or previous knowledge is required.
This class will meet for 8 sessions in person at ASBI, Monday nights 7 - 9 PM from January 22 - March 11, 2024.
