Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik, arguably the most influential Orthodox rabbi of twentieth century America, was known simply as “the Rav” among his thousands of students and the communities in which they lived and taught. Although a prolific teacher and communal leader, he published very little during his lifetime. Among his published writings, he felt that his Hebrew essay “UVikashtem MiSham,” written in 1940 at the same time as his more famous “Halakhic Man” but only published in 1978, was the most complete articulation of his religious worldview. Despite its importance, “UVikashtem Misham” was not translated into English until 2006 with the title “And From There You Shall Seek”.

Please read chapters 17-21 of “And From There You Shall Seek” before our next meeting on October 12th.
