Mikvah
We are ever grateful that our shul is home to The Adam R. Straus Memorial Mikvah, which opened in April 2008, and is used on a daily basis. Thus far, we have facilitated over 500 immersions, which include those of women who observe the laws of Family Purity, brides and grooms, and men and women preparing spiritually for Shabbat and holidays. In addition, the kelim mikvah pool is frequently used by members to toivel new dishes and utensils. There are maintenance, repair and replacement costs that are required for the upkeep of the mikvah. Although, there is income generated through mikvah use, we look to individual donors for the necessary support that allows us to continue to house this beautiful mikvah in Lakeview.
Kiddush
As part of ASBI's commitment to creating a warm and hospitable community, the shul offers a weekly Kiddush that nourishes both body and soul-where both members and guests can schmooze and nosh. If you are celebrating a simcha or commemorating the loss of a loved one, we suggest sponsoring a Kiddush in honor of this occasion. Please contact the shul to find out about the variety of Kiddush sponsorship opportunities.
Yom Kippur Appeal
Each year, Anshe Sholom B'nai Israel provides hundreds of people with Shabbat and weekday service, Holiday & Shabbat meals, engages local residents in Jewish educational classes, enriching family programming, and support to congregants in both their daily lives, as well as when during life cycle events. Through the Yom Kippur Appeal, we raise funds that ensure that we can satisfy the needs of our steadily-growing community. A gift to this campaign is an investment in the future of our community and a means through which you can ensure that everyone who walks through our doors receives the support our shul knows how to provide.
Mishloach Manot
One of the mitzvot that we participate in on Purim is the delivery of Mishloach Manot, through which we deliver food packages to our friends, neighbors, and those who are in need. Any donation to the Mishloach Maot fund, will include your name on each of the packages that we provide for the entire congregation, in addition the following sponsorship levels include:
- Hamentashen ($136- 249): delivery of package to 1 IDF soldier & 5 Purim raffle tickets
- Shpiel ($250-499): delivery of package to 2 IDF soldiers & 10 raffle tickets
- The Whole Megillah ($500-999): delivery of package to 4 IDF soldiers & 20 raffle tickets
- Half the Kingdom ($1000-1799): delivery of package to 6 IDF soldiers & 50 raffle tickets
- The Whole Kingdom ($1,800+): delivery of package to 8 IDF soldiers & 100 raffle tickets
