Adam R. Straus Memorial Mikvah
MIKVAH OPEN FOR USE! The Adam R. Straus Memorial Mikvah is open for use as of Monday, April 7! Women's hours are available by appointment only. Appointments should be made at least 48 hours in advance. To make an appointment, call either Rachel Lopatin's cell phone: 312-813-4158, or Rachel Finegold's cell phone 773-896-7393. Once there are phone lines installed in the mikvah, you will be able to call the Mikvah directly.
Many thanks to the hard-working Mikvah Committee (especially Naomi and Jeremy Fogel, Emily and Daniel Gottlieb), to all the donors, and to the Mikvah Attendants. A special thanks to David Ash, our site manager, who has been there every step of the way and without whom this project would not have come to fruition. And thank you to Hashem, for bestowing this blessing on our community.
The Kelim - Vessels - Mikvah is open. It has a dedicated entrance on the east side of the mikvah, opening directly from the driveway. It is available for use on mornings immediately after services (7:45 AM), when Rabbi Lopatin or Rachel Finegold can open it up by request, and in addition from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. It is customary to make a donation when using the Kelim Mikvah. The immersion of dishes in the mikvah sanctifies them for use in a Jewish home. Anything used for preparing or serving food, and made of metal or glass, should be immersed in the mikvah, as long as the water will not ruin the vessel.
