ASBI B'nai Mitzvah Program

Our mission:

Create a cohort of 6th and 7th graders that can grow together as they learn and experience their Judaism in preparation for their B’nai Mitzvah and eventually serve as young leaders in the Anshe Sholom community.

About the ASBI Bnai Mitzvah Program:

Relying on the teachings of Shimon the Righteous (Pirkei Avot, Ch. 1.2), our program will be based on the three principles upon which the world is sustained:

Torah: Foster Torah-based skills including the ability to present a dvar torah, chant from the Torah and engage in meaningful discussions of Jewish thought.

Avodah: Cultivate a relationship with Tefillah through its meanings, its mechanics and its language.

Gemilut Chassadim: Create an understanding of the importance of gemilut chassadim (acts of lovingkindness) as well as offer students a multitude of hands-on ways to fulfill this responsibility.

Using this foundation of Torah, Avodah and Gemilut Chassadim, the group will form its own community within the greater ASBI community. This will establish a bond amongst themselves as a group, as well as a personal bond with the synagogue itself to insure a sense of belonging to our ASBI family.
