Halacha of the Week #15
“Pat Haba b’Kisnin”, a baked good which requires the bracha of Mezonot, can be elevated to a Hamotzi status when one is “kove’a seudah” on it – makes it into a meal. The best example of this is pizza. According to many opinions, when one eats a slice or two of pizza as a snack, one makes the bracha of Mezonot. However, when pizza becomes the meal, usually indicated by the fact that one eats multiple slices, then one would wash and say Hamotzi on it.
