Halacha of the week #13
On Erev Tisha B'av, it is customary to include either lentils or a
hard-boiled egg at the Seudah HaMafeseket (the last meal before the
fast), because these are foods of mourning. After the meal, you may
still eat and drink until the fast actually begins. However, if you
state at the end of the emal that you are starting to fast, you may no
longer change your mind and eat or drink, even if the fast has not yet
officially begun.
