Halacha of the Week #70
If you eat fruit in the middle of the meal or for dessert, even though you’ve washed for bread and said Hamotzi (which usually absolves you of making other brachot during the meal), you must make a separate bracha of Ha’etz on that fruit. However, if the fruit comes as an accompaniment to the main part of the meal, such as a cranberry sauce or relish, or as filling to a blintz or part of a
larger dish (ex. raisins in a salad), you would not need to make a separate bracha of Ha’etz on it.
